The Salvation Army of Augusta has pulled in $15,244,187 for its $15.7 million Center of Hope project. That puts the campaign at 97% funded. Less than $456,000 remains.

"We've seen incredible support from our community in just a short amount of time," said Maj. Jonathan Raymer, Area Commander of The Salvation Army of Augusta, per Augusta Good News. "To go from $1 million remaining to less than half of that in a matter of weeks is a testament to how deeply people care about their neighbors in need. Now, we're asking our community to help us take this final step."

The new building will nearly double what's available now. Separate spaces and entrances for families, single women, and men will be created, along with private areas for case management.

Each night, the group provides shelter to around 80 people. About 14 children are among them. An average of 19 families request shelter every day.

Since 2022, more than 400 people have transitioned from homelessness to stable housing. This is through the Center of Hope programs. The new building will expand that impact.

"We're so close," Raymer said. "This is the moment where every gift matters. Together, we can finish what we started and open the doors to a new Center of Hope for Augusta."

The "Standing Together – Restoring Hope" campaign will fund the purpose-built emergency overnight shelter designed to better serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The new structure will offer a safer environment for those seeking refuge.
