ESPN will send Jason Kelce to Augusta National Golf Club next week to work as an on-course reporter for the Masters Par 3 Contest on April 8. The former Philadelphia Eagles center will conduct interviews with players and their families during the broadcast.

The network announced this assignment on March 31. Coverage begins at noon on the ESPN App and Disney+, then shifts to ESPN at 2 p.m. for two hours. Scott Van Pelt will host. Marty Smith and Jason Kelce will handle interviews.

The announcement drew criticism from some golf fans on social media. Some are stating that he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near Augusta. Other users protested, stating that the Kelces don't need to be in everything.

Some questioned his TGL performance. One fan claimed his golf broadcasting debut was "super cringe and super forced," according to Augusta Today.

The Masters Par 3 Contest takes place on a nine-hole, par-27 course the day before the tournament starts. Players bring family members as caddies for the event. No golfer has won the Par 3 Contest and the Masters in the same year.
