Aiken residents can join a civic discussion about what will keep America strong. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Reserve Club at Woodside. Participants will identify the top 10 most important ongoing practices for the country's future, per the Aiken Standard.
The task asks people to identify not what they want, but what the nation requires for enduring stability. Participants won't pick specific policies. Instead, they'll identify ongoing national practices needed to prevent collapse.
All registered participants receive a Citizen Briefing Packet before the meeting. This helps prepare them for discussion. Attendees can choose from starter lists of proposed criteria and possible future actions. They can also add their own suggestions for evaluation criteria or needed actions.
Some residents had already attended an earlier meeting. That session selected the top 10 greatest achievements in America since 1776. Both meetings aim to create top 10 lists as a way of promoting and celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
All residents of the Aiken area are welcome to participate. Those interested can register by emailing Roger Bernier at rogbernier@gmail.com or texting 678-361-5170 with their name and email address.
