Augusta Municipal Golf Course opens April 15. The wait ends after 16 months of work that transformed the old layout into something new. Tom Fazio and Beau Welling redesigned the main course, while Tiger Woods and TGR Design built a nine-hole short course. Locals can play 18 holes on weekdays for $25 at the site now called The Patch.
A soft opening starts mid-March. High school teams and regulars get first access with limited tee times. Masters week brings private events, then the gates open for everyone three days after the 2026 tournament wraps on April 12.
Walking rates for residents run $25 Monday through Thursday, jumping to $35 Friday through Sunday. The Loop at The Patch costs $15 for locals. Seniors and juniors pay $20 on weekdays, $30 on weekends for the full course.
Out-of-towners face steeper bills. They'll pay $85 on weekdays, $95 on weekends for 18 holes. Active-duty military members get the same deal as residents.
The original course dates back to 1928. Public players have walked these grounds for decades. Officials named the entrance road Jim Dent Way in 2020, honoring the late pro who lived in Augusta.
The redesign retained elements of the 11-hole layout while increasing the playing areas by 20%. Fazio has worked with Augusta National for 30 years as a consulting architect. Welling spent time under Fazio before launching his own practice.
Practice space sprawls across 17 acres. Trackman Range offers 20 covered bays for hitters. A 12-hole putting course is free and open to anyone.
The First Tee of Augusta returns May 1. Booking details will follow, with tee times reaching full capacity as summer approaches.
