Augusta University will shut down the main entrance to its Summerville Campus from Feb. 9-11. Two trees will be planted near the Walton Way entrance. Barricades will go up at 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9.

The main entrance and Taylor Street will be blocked from University Hall to the Grover C. Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre. Barricades stay up through Tuesday, Feb. 10. Crews will remove them once work wraps up on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 11.

Faculty, staff, students, and visitors should enter the campus using Katherine Street on the east end or Arsenal Avenue on the west end. Both streets allow right turns onto Walton Way only.

Drivers who need to turn left westbound onto Walton Way must access traffic lights through Johns Street via Pickens Road from Katherine. They can also use Monte Sano via Bellevue Avenue off Arsenal.

The University Hall shuttle stop will move to Allgood Hall during the entrance closure. AU Parking Services will update PassioGo with the stop change and put signs at both University and Allgood halls to help riders find the temporary location.

The walking path that runs parallel to both Taylor Street and Walton Way will also close. Pedestrians can use sidewalks behind the Maxwell Theatre and Washington Hall. Paths through the Grove at the center of the campus remain open.

The two trees will be planted next to the main entrance off Walton Way and in front of the Maxwell Theatre. They replace two trees lost in recent years, one of which was lost to Hurricane Helene.
