Augusta is now officially under an Ice Storm Warning, as the severe winter weather system is now impacting everywhere from New Mexico to New England.

While there's nothing to speak of in terms of precipitation in the CSRA as of Saturday afternoon, things will not stay that way.

Current forecasts show that spots of rain and freezing rain will begin through the evening, and particularly overnight into Sunday morning. While the majority of the serious impacts will happen North of the CSRA, dangerous conditions should still exist here.

The National Weather Service said that ice accumulations between two-tenths and three tenths of an inch are possible. That's significant when it comes to road conditions and the impact on power lines.

"Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute."

Reports coming out of Greenville, SC and Spartanburg, SC say that Waffle Houses are closing in those areas, showcasing that it's not a big gap between bad and tolerable.

Road conditions will worsen rapidly once freezing rain begins to hit, so if you need to be on the roads, get everything done now so you're in place at home when the ice comes.
