Aiken County added plans for a new golf course in 2025. Construction started on another. Cedar Creek Golf Club underwent major work after changing hands.
Jeff Warne announced plans during fall 2025 to build New Holland Golf Club near Interstate 20 between Augusta and Columbia. Warne owns a house in New Holland. The property sits on his route to the interstate.
"It's a beautiful and unique property," Warne wrote in an email to the Aiken Standard. "I have been looking for land in Aiken for a long time."
New Holland Golf Club will focus on golf with minimal amenities and a small clubhouse. Brian Schneider of Renaissance Golf will serve as the lead architect. Warne hopes to break ground in 2026, though membership costs haven't been released.
"Who knew it would blow up like it has? It's a great city," Warne said. "Downtown is a beautiful place to live and visit. Anyone in Aiken already knows what a great destination it is."
The 21 Golf Club started construction in 2025. The project will feature two courses and a practice range with inspiration from Alister MacKenzie, who co-designed Augusta National Golf Club with Bobby Jones. Buildings will include a clubhouse, hospitality house, cabins for member use, and an amenities area.
Work began almost right after the sale. Changes included a full-scale bunker renovation, cart path restoration, drainage, and turf replacement in areas with erosion issues, and tree removal where turf was damaged.
The area continues to attract a national membership with several private clubs. Those include Sage Valley, Old Barnwell, The Tree Farm, and 21 Golf Club.
